5.) Michael McGray
Michael McGray was just doing as the ‘demons’ in his head commanded of him. (Oh brother! Here comes ‘the devil made me do it’ again) But seriously. That was his defense. The devil told him to kill and so he did! For 15 years. He murdered in Halifax, Saint John, Montreal, Newfoundland, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, and Seattle.
McGray blames some of his problems on the constant beatings he received from his drunken father and on those who sexually abused him while he was in reform school. And make that reform schools. He was in several of them throughout his youth. (I’m beginning to see why his father was a bit hard on him.) None-the-less, add to this the fact that he (Michael) enjoyed killing animals as a young child, and he did it a lot, and you can pretty much see what an ugly mess Michael McGray’s life was beginning to evolve into. I guess having the demons as constant companions would be pretty much a given.
Michael was arrested in 2000 and, after confessing to having killed a young woman 15 years prior, Michael was looking at life. So he made a deal. He would release the details of the 16 murders he’d committed over the years in exchange for immunity for any new charges that might come against him and for psychiatric treatment to release him from his demons, forewarning the authorities that he would continue his killing spree by murdering prison guards, prisoners, and/or anybody else he could to quench his “searing hunger to kill.”
He is serving concurrent life sentences of 25 years with no chance of parole. God, let’s hope the Hell not!
