Victims of Gary Leon Ridgway | The Green River Killer
Gary Leon Ridgway became infamous as the Green River Killer on November 30, 2001 when he was finally apprehended after decades of murdering girls and women in the state of Washington during the 1980’s and 1990’s.
Ridgway was initially convicted of 48 separate murders. As part of his plea bargain, eliminating the death penalty from the table, another conviction was added, bringing the total number of convictions to 49, making him the second most prolific serial killer in United States history according to confirmed murders. The press gave him his nickname after the first five victims were found in the Green River before his identity was known.

Wendy Lee Coffield
Wendy Lee Coffield – Find A Grave
Wendy Coffield was born on April 17, 1966. She was 16 years old when she vanished. She was last seen on July 8, 1982 in the Tacoma, Washington area. Her body was discovered on July 15 by two boys riding their bikes across the bridge of the Green River. She was recovered from under the Peck Bridge and the cause of her death was determined to be murder by strangulation using her own clothes. Gary Leon Ridgway was charged with her murder in April of 2003.

Gisele Lovvorn was born on February 26, 1965. She was 17 years old when she disappeared. Gisele was last seen on July 17, 1982 in Normandy Park. She had been missing for over two months when her body was found, on September 26, 1982, in a wooded area near South 200th and 18th Avenue South. At the time of her disappearance, Gisele had been a blonde, yet, when her body was discovered her hair had been dyed black. Her body was not found in the direct vicinity of the Green River but police are confident she was a murder victim of the Green River killer, Gary Ridgway.

Debra Bonner was born on October 31,1958. She had gone missing on July 15, 1982 from South 216th Street and Pacific Highway South, south of the SeaTac Airport. On August 12, 1982, Frank Linard discovered a body of a young woman floating in the Green River, yards from the Kent slaughterhouse where he worked. The remains were later identified as those of 23 year old Debra Lynn Bonner. She was the fourth victim of Gary Leon Ridgway, the Green River Killer.

Marcia Chapman was born on July 9, 1951. Marcia was 31 years old when she suddenly vanished. She was last seen leaving her home near South 188th Street and Pacific Highway South on August 1, 1982. Cynthia was a murder victim of Gary Leon Ridgway.

Rebecca ‘Becky’ Marrero was born on August 4,1962. She was 19 years old when disappeared on December 3, 1982. She was leaving her motel room at South 216th Street and Pacific Highway South when she was last seen. Her remains were discovered in the same area as those of Marie Malvar, which were found September 28, 2003. Ridgway confessed to and was convicted of the Malvar homicide and was questioned extensively in 2003 about Marrero’s disappearance. The statements of Rebecca’s killer vary. Some reports state that Ridgeway admitted to killing Becky while others state he was never charged with her murder. Her remains were found in the same area as so many other Green River victims. Rebecca was friends with another Green River victim, Debra Estes. Rebecca also had a three year old daughter at the time of her disappearance. Her remains were returned to her family in 2010 after they were found in the ravine. It is believed she was a murder victim of Gary Leon Ridgway,
Colleen Renee Brockman

Colleen Brockman was born in 1967. She was just 15 years old when she ran away to live on the streets before disappearing all together from the downtown Seattle area on December 28, 1982. Her father had reported her missing and filed a police report in the hopes of finding her. Her remains were discovered on Jovita Boulevard in Pierce County, Washington on May 26, 1984. Gary Ridgway was found guilty for committing her murder.

Sandra Major was born in 1962. She was 20 years old when a friend of hers reported her missing to Seattle police on December 24, 1982, several days after last being was seen getting into a truck near North 90th Street and Aurora Avenue North. Since their discovery in 1985, Sandra’s remains have been referred to as Jane Doe B16, or bones 16. She was the 16th set of unidentified remains found. Sandra’s remains were found down a steep embankment on the outskirts of Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn on December 30, 1985. Sandra was identified through DNA used from her siblings. Ridgeway plead guilty to her murder.

Wendy Stephens was just 14 years old when she ran away from her home and family in Denver, Colorado in 1983. Her remains were discovered a year later in March of 1984, in a marshy drainage area behind a baseball field, just west of 16th Avenue South and South 146th Street, on property that is now Sea-Tac International Airport. For more than three and a half decades, she was known only as ‘Bones 10’. Nineteen years later, Wendy was finally identified through DNA. Gary Ridgway admitted he’d killed her and dumped her body in the swamp. It is believed that Wendy Stephens is the youngest victim of the Green River Killer.
Alma Ann Smith
Alma Smith was born on August 1,1964 in Walla Walla, Washington. 18 year old Alma was last seen on March 3, 1983, on Pacific Highway South. On April 2,1984, her body was found in the Star Lake area. Gary Ridgway confessed to taking Alma to his home and strangling her there, disposing of her body in the woods that same evening. Alma’s remains were found on April 2, 1984, in the Star Lake area.

Delores Williams was born on June 29,1965. 17 year old Delores was last seen around 2 p.m. on February 6, 1983 at Rainier Avenue South and South Ferdinand Street at a bus stop outside the Red Lion. Her remains were found on March 31, 1984 in woods off of Star Lake Road in South King County. She was found with three other victims, Alma Smith, Terri Milligan and Sandra Gabbart. Her remains were identified by dental records. Gary Leon Ridgway confessed to murdering Delores and disposing of her body in the woods.

Gail Mathews was 23 years old and living on welfare, moving from one friend’s house to another. She was last seen by her estranged husband one evening in early April, 1983, when she dropped their daughter off to him. Gail told him then that she didn’t know when she would be back for another visit. She was last seen on April 10, 1983 around 6 p.m. near South 216th Street and Pacific Highway South. Gail Mathews’ skeletal remains were found on September 18, 1983 near Star Lake and 51st Avenue South, east of Federal Way.

Mary Jane Malvar, known as Marie, was born on April 1, 1965. On April 30th, 1983, 18 year old Marie was last seen on 216th and Pacific Highway South. Her boyfriend had witnessed Marie getting into a truck. Sensing that something was wrong, he attempted to follow the truck, but lost it at an intersection. Days later, the boyfriend reported to police that he had found the truck parked at a house less then a half-mile away. The house belonged to Gary Leon Ridgway. When questioned by police, Gary denied having anything to do with Marie’s disappearance and police saw no reason to further investigate. Marie’s remains were found 30 years later on September 27,2003. She was discovered in a ravine in the 29200 block of 65th Avenue South in Auburn. She was found near one other victim. Gary Ridgway confessed to Marie’s murder in 2003 and led investigators to her remains.

Carol Ann Christensen was born on May 22,1961. She was 21 years old and a single mother of one. Carol was last seen when she walked out of the Barn Door Tavern on Pacific Avenue South on May 3, 1983. She intended to return later for her evening shift as a waitress. She never made that shift. Her body was found 6 days later, on Mother’s Day, May 8, 1983, by a family hunting for mushrooms in a wooded section of Maple Valley, just off SE 244th Street and Hwy 169. She had been strangled. Her body had been dunked in water and re-clothed backwards. She had one shoe on the wrong foot, the other shoe was never found. She had a bag over her head. Two cleaned fish were laid across her body. She had raw sausage around her, a wine bottle in her hand. Carol was a murder victim of Gary Leon Ridgway.

The day of her nineteenth birthday. Cheryl’s skeletal remains were found in a wooded area near South 146th Street and 16th Avenue South, just north of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, on March 22, 1984. In 2003 Gary Ridgway pleaded guilty to Cheryl’s murder. Cheryl’s sister, Deborah Yvonne Wims, disappeared under eerily similar circumstances in 1990. Although Ridgway denies her murder, authorities believe she fell victim to the same fate as Cheryl.

April Buttram was born on September 1,1965. She had moved from Spokane to Seattle. She was seventeen when she disappeared from the Rainier Valley between August 18 and September 1, 1983. She was last seen when police spoke to her in the 7300 block of Rainer Avenue South. Her remains were found August 30, 2003 in a wooded area near Snoqualmie, about 26 miles east of Seattle, by searchers sifting dirt through screens. April was a murder victim of Gary Leon Ridgway, who was found guilty for committing her murder.

Streetwise was released in 1984 and is a documentary created about teenagers that were homeless on the streets of Seattle. Roberta Hayes was one of them. She was last seen on February 7, 1987, when she was released from the custody of the Portland, Oregon, Police Department. It was believed that she was headed back to Seattle. She was twenty one years old when she disappeared. On September 11, 1991, more than four years after she was last seen, a Washington State Parks employee discovered Roberta’s skeletal remains at the end of a dead-end dirt road, located north of Highway 410 between mileposts 36 and 37. Roberta Hayes was the 43rd victim of Gary Leon Ridgway, the Green River Killer.

Marta Reeves was born in 1953 in Hungary. She was one of the victims of Gary Ridgway, the prolific serial killer that raped, strangled and dumped the bodies near the Green River in Washington state. Marta was last last heard from when she made a phone call to her husband on March 5, 1990. Her body was found September 20, 1990 on Highway 410, a logging road, between mileposts 33 and 34.
Patricia Ann Yellowrobe

Patricia Yellowrobe was born on April 7,1960. She was last seen in January 1998 in the Seattle are. The actual location of her disappearance is unknown. Patricia’s body was found in Seattle on August 16, 1998 in the 9400 block of Des Moines Memorial Drive South in King County. Her death was ruled as an accidental overdose. She was never listed as one of the Green River Victims until Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer, confessed to her murder. Patricia was thirty eight years old when her life was taken from her.
And There Were More
Before Gary Ridgway’s confession, authorities had not attributed the deaths of Rule, Barczak, Hayes, Reeves, Yellowrobe or Jane Doe B-20 to the Green River Killer.
Ridgway’s confession and directions led police search crews to find the bodies of Avent, Buttram, and Malvar in August and September of 2003.
On Tuesday, December 21, 2010, hikers near the West Valley Highway in Auburn, Washington, found a skull in the vicinity of where Marie Malvar’s remains had been found in 2003. The skull was identified as belonging to Rebecca “Becky” Marrero. Ridgway was formally charged with her murder on February 11, 2011. On February 18, 2011, he entered a guilty plea in the murder of Rebecca Marrero, adding a 49th life sentence to his already existing 48. Gary confessed to murdering Marrero in his original plea bargain but, due to insufficient evidence or statements that could not be corroborated, the charges were not filed.
The remains of Tracy Winston were found, without a skull, in Kent’s Cottonwood Grove Park in March of 1986. Winston’s skull was found in November 2005 near Tiger Mountain, miles away from the discovery site of the rest of her body.
Sandra Denise Major was not identified until June 2012. A family member asked the King County Sheriff to investigate after seeing a TV movie about Ridgway. DNA then confirmed Major’s identity.
Wendy Stephens, previously known as “Jane Doe B-10”, was previously unidentified. Ridgway claimed that she was a white female in her early 20’s. She was later confirmed to be just 14 years old.
Jane Doe B-17, a still-unidentified victim, was discovered on January 2, 1986. The remains that had been found in another area February 18, 1984, were later matched to this victim. In 2003, Ridgway claimed responsibility for her death as well.
Jane Doe B-20, also unidentified, was discovered in August 2003. Because the remains were partial, her face could not be reconstructed and her race could not be determined, but she was estimated to have been between 13 and 24 years old at the time of her death. She was murdered between 1970 and 1993, but she is believed to have been murdered during the first decade of Ridgway’s murder spree.

Victims of Gary Leon Ridgway

Amina Agisheff
Amina Agisheff was born on She was August 26,1946. She was the first and oldest victim of Gary Leon Ridgway, the man known as “The Green River Killer” in the Seattle, Washington area. Amina disappeared on July 7,1982. Her remains were found on April 20, 984. At the time of her death, Amina was 35 years old, a mother of two children, a Montessori schoolteacher and a waitress. She was in a stable relationship, which she didn’t fit the profile of many of the other victims, which were prostitutes, runaways and troubled teens. Gary Ridgway denies killing her, but all roads lead authorities back to him.
Kasee Ann Woods Lee

Kasee Lee was born on February 26,1966. She was a 16 year old, married four months to her pimp, Anthony Craig Lee, when she disappeared. She was last seen on August 28, 1982 in the area of South 200th Street and 30th Avenue South. This area is just east of Pacific Highway South. Ridgeway admitted to killing Kasee. He stated that he strangled her in 1982 and left her body near a drive-in theatre off the Sea-Tac Strip. Officials have been unable to locate Lee’s remains at the dumpsite that Ridgway indicated and so cannot corroborate his claim, lacking the necessary evidence needed to prosecute him for this crime.
Tammie Charlene Liles

Tammie Liles was born on May 9,1967. The 16 year old was last seen on June 9, 1983, in downtown Seattle. Her skeletal remains were found two years later on April 23, 1985, in Tualatin, Oregon, south of Portland, near the grounds of the Tualatin Country Club in a wooded area. Tammie remained unidentified until 1998 when she was finally identified through her dental records. She is believed to be yet another victim of the Green River Killer.
Keli Kay McGinness

Keli McGinness was born on April 17,1965 in Seattle, Washington. She was last seen on June 28, 1983, standing near the street in the area of the Three Bears Motel on South 216th Street and Pacific Highway South. Shortly before her disappearance, the 18 year old was questioned by a Port of Seattle police officer while “dating” Ridgway near the SeaTac Strip. Furthermore, during the summer of 2003, Ridgway led authorities to the bodies of several of his victims. One of those bodies, later identified as that of April Buttram, was initially identified by Ridgway as being that of Keli McGinniss. According to Gary Ridgway, he often confused McGinniss with Buttram because of their similar physiques. Gary Ridgeway admitted to strangling Keli on the same night he abducted her but her remains have never been found. It is claimed that Ridgway took police to her dump site and admitted to moving her remains at least once. He claims to leaving Keli’s remains at the Lake Fenwick site, yet nothing has ever been found, and so his claim cannot be corroborated, thereby lacking the necessary evidence needed to prosecute him for this crime.
Angela Marie Girdner

Angela Marie Girdner was born on February 28,1967. She was last heard from in July of 1983, when she called home and spoke to her mother, reporting that she was doing fine. On April 22, 1985, her skeletal remains were found in Tualatin, Oregon, near several other victims of Gary Leon Ridgeway, the Green River killer. She was identified through dental records in 2009.
Patricia Anne Osborn
Patricia Anne Osborn – Find A Grave
Patricia Osborn was born on February 9,1964. The 19 year old was last seen on October 28, 1983, when she left an area at North 115th Street and Aurora Avenue North in the City of Seattle to walk to a nearby restaurant. She has never been found and is believed to have fallen victim to Gary Ridgway.

Patricia LeBlanc was arrested on August 8, 1983 and charged with prostitution. She was sent to live in a youth shelter. She was last seen on August 12, 1983, while on an outing with the DSHS at the Seattle Center. Patricia has never been seen or heard from again.
Darci Warde
Darci Warde was born on October 1,1973. Although she was just 16 years old, Darci had a history of prostitution and being a run away. She was last seen in Seattle, Washington on April 24th 1990. She is believed to be a victim of Gary Leon Ridgway, the Green River Killer.
Cora Christmas McGuirk
Cora Christmas McGuirk – The Charlie Project
Cora McGuirk was born on December 25, 1968. She suddenly disappeared for two days in early July 1991. She then returned home. Her aunt noticed that she seemed unnerved and asked her about it. Cora stated she was fine but asked her aunt to take care of her three young children if anything ever happened to her. She left later that same day and was never seen or heard from again. Her car was later found near Aurora Avenue North. Authorities believe Cora may have been the victim of serial killer Gary Leon Ridgway. Cora’s oldest son, Martell Webster, grew up to be a professional basketball player who played with the Portland Trailblazers.
Where is Gary Leon Ridgway
Gary Leon Ridgeway, was charged with and convicted of murdering 49 of his 71 confessed victims.
In addition to the 49 life sentences, the judge added ten years per victim for tampering with evidence. Therefore, Gary Ridgway has 490 years on top of his life sentences. He will spend the rest of his natural life in the Washington State Penitentiary. Now 73 years old, Gary reportedly lives a secluded life, spending 23 hours in isolation and is only allowed visits from his legal team and immediate family.
