Shooting: November 30,2021
One man was killed and two others wounded two hours into a pair of basketball games between Humboldt High School and North Side. The shooting occurred outside the gym near the concessions.
Two Hurt / One Dead
On November 30, 2021 officers of the Humboldt Police Department responded to the gymnasium at Humboldt High School. Shots had been fired inside the lobby of the high school. The law had been called and injuries had occured.
Upon arrival, authorities found Justin Pankey, a 21 year old from Humboldt, badly wounded from a gun shot. He would die at the scene. Xavier Clifton, an 18 year old from Jackson, Tennessee, had likewise been shot. He was taken by helicopter to a Trauma Center, later listed in serious condition. A third victim, Dontavious Cross, was taken to a local hospital, treated and released into family care.
Warrants Issued
It was soon determined, via surveillance cameras, that the shooter was 18 year old Jadon Davon Hardiman of Jackson, Tennessee. Warrants were issued for his apprehension and the search was on. The warrents included 1st degree murder, attempted 1st degree murder with serious bodily injury, attempted 1st degree Mmurder, armed dangerous felons-3 counts, tampering with evidence and carrying a weapon-gun on school property.

On December 1st, Hardiman turned himself in. He was arrested and charged with the murder of one and the attempted murder of two more.
Jadon Davon Hardiman appeared, by video conference, for an arraignment hearing. He was formally charged with the murder of Justin Kevon Pankey, the attempted murder of Xavier Clifton and with the attempted murder of Dontavious Cross. Two young men simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
According to the arrest warrant, surveillance footage outside of the auditorium revealed Hardiman and Pankey in a heated argument. At one point, Hardiman pulled a gun on Pankey and fired. After shooting Pankey, Hardiman shot several rounds, indiscriminately, into the crowd, hitting Clifton and Cross in the process, before fleeing the scene.
Hardiman is pleading not guilty on all charges and will in court again in January for a preliminary hearing.
