Execution Date For Stanley Theodore Adams
The Ohio Supreme Court set an execution date for Stanley Theodore Adams. Adams was convicted of the 1999 murders of two women and a 12 year old child.
On the evening of October 11, 1999, Stanley Adams went out partying. Part way through the ‘party’, Adams had run out of drugs and money. He told another partygoer that he would return after going after some more money.
When Stanley returned to the party, the original party goer was gone, but others who yet remained noted that Adams was covered with blood; on his hands, clothes and shoes. He also now had cash. Realizing, at some point, that he had blood on his clothes, Adams removed his blood-soaked shirt.
Stanley Adams and two companions again left the party in the wee hours of October 12, 1999 in pursuit of more drugs. While out, Adams was pulled over for having only one headlight. He was given a warning and sent on his way, but not without the officers seeing the obvious evidence of a large amount of blood on the man.
Bodies Discovered
In the afternoon of October 12, 1999, Esther Cook’s friend Donna stopped by her house. Donna discovered Esther’s cold, dead body inside the front door. She left immediately and raced to call the law. Esther, nor her 12 year old daughter, Ashley, had not been seen since 5:30 pm. the previous day.
Esther Cook was found lying in a pool of blood at the bottom of the stairs. She had died from blunt force trauma to her skull. Ashley was discovered in an upstairs bedroom. She had been raped, strangled and beaten to death.
Stanley Adams, who had most recently lived with Ester and Asley, was quickly identified as a probable suspect in the rape and murders. He was pulled in for an interview and confessed that he had gone to the Cook’s house only to rob them. When he arrived, he discovered Esther and Ashley already dead. DNA concerning Ashley’s rape said different.
Stanley Theodore Adams was charged, tried and convicted on murder, rape and burglary charges. During this same time, Adams was also convicted of murdering 40-year-old Roslyn Taylor on August 6, 1999, whose body was discovered in a fire-damage vehicle. Adams was convicted and sentenced to death.
Stanley Adams was admitted into the Chillicothe Correctional Institution in Ohio in 2001. The Ohio Supreme Court set his execution date for February 16, 2022.
However, Ohio Governor, Mike DeWine issued a reprieve of execution on Friday, September 10, 2021, delaying Adams’ death sentence.
The new execution date for Stanley Theodore Adams has been set for February 19, 2025.
