Hornoff was a police detective who had an affair with the victim. He was arrested in 1994, and convicted by a jury of first-degree murder in June 1996, despite what seemed a rock-solid alibi and no physical evidence linking him to the crime. In November 2002, Todd Barry confessed to the murder and in 2003, Barry was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
