A gunman shot and wounded four people, including Republican Congressman and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, while they were practicing for the Congressional Baseball Game. Two others were also injured in other ways. The gunman was killed after being engaged by Capitol police officers assigned to protect Scalise and by police officers responding to the scene.
